We have created a unique solution dedicated to the municipal market – UMS (Urban Management System). The platform is a system that connects various subsystems that organize the life of city’s inhabitants. The UMS use an analysis of archival and currently collected data, uses artificial intelligence technologies and mobile technologies to manage the urban parking offer. UMS is a series of modules including an innovative SPS (Smart Parking Sensor) enabling full control of the parking space (who parked when) and a globally unique e-parking module enabling cities to significantly tighten the parking space charging system.

UMS:

The intelligent urban management system (UMS) is an innovative, technologically advanced tool in the area of “Internet of things” and “smart city”, which idea is to support in creation of environmentally friendly and driver-friendly cities. The platform is a system that connects various subsystems that organize the life of city’s inhabitants. The UMS use an analysis of archival and currently collected data, uses artificial intelligence technology to manage urban spaces. The main task of system will be to help drivers find an optimal parking space in the shortest possible time.

The Inteligentne Miasto company will offer a complete solution for urban parking space management, including both hardware and software elements of the system. Planned system will consist of the following elements:

SPS

Smart Parking System

Smart Parking Sensor is a wireless sensor based on ultrasonic technology and digital photography. The sensor can be glued or screwed to the car park surface and has dimensions specified in the Road Traffic Code. The sensor should take pictures of a vehicle occupying the parking space while parking in order to further automatically recognize the number of license plates and confirm with ultrasounds after a certain time whether the vehicle has actually parked. The SPS should have free space to place the city’s arms or the car park owner’s logo on the top of casing. All elements of the device, including an antenna, should be placed in a casing (metal or plastic) resistant to external weather conditions (IP65 protection level), including rain, snow and ice. The reader should be equipped with an infrared illuminator and camera ensuring proper operation in all lighting conditions.

UMS DR

Data Receiver

It is a receiver of data from SRS sensors. It reads the data and sends it to the database via a business logic module through the network. Installed one in 20-30 SRS sensors (depending on the shape and size of the car park). The UMS DR enables implementation of wireless sensor networks in a simple and scalable way ensuring minimum maintenance costs. UMS DR consists of a durable, waterproof housing with external sockets. Optionally, it will have the possibility of using a solar panel.

UMS DB

Database

All data received by UMS DR will be stored in a database located in the cloud. The UMS DB is a flexible data maintenance model in terms of data performance, relieving the customer of the need to take care of backups, data migration or optimization. It enables uninterrupted migration of an instance supporting the database engine to an instance with different parameters and the transfer of databases between physical instances – at any time, completely automatically. It has an advanced transaction system, characterized by high efficiency.

UMS BL

Business Logic

Business logic module is the heart of UMS system. It is a software layer, which is responsible for communication between the end user interface (QuickPark, UrbanManager), external devices (UMS DR) and the database. The main components are the function of business rules and workflows. UMS BL describes specific procedures, workflows consisting of tasks, procedural stages, necessary input and output information, as well as tools necessary for each stage of the process.

QuickPark

Mobile application for parking users

QuicPark will be a hybrid mobile application (for Android and iOS). QP will use technologies typically used to build web applications, while having access to the native features of smartphones. It will be built using various tools (e.g. PhoneGap or Ionic). QP will be distributed by stores with applications such as App Store or Google Play (formerly Android Market). QP will be partly written in the native language, and partly in the web (HTML 5 or CSS3).

UM

Urban Manager

Urban Manager will allow city authorities (car park owners) to monitor and manage the parking space in an efficient way. In the application created for the city, information on occupancy and history of all used parking spaces will be available. It will also be possible to generate reports on the use of individual parking zones, showing the percentage use of parking spaces in the time interval. The application will also provide information on:

– potential failures of sensors and other devices used in the system,
– time of occupancy of individual parking spaces.

The application will be written in Microsoft technology using HTML5 and CSS3. It will be a responsive application (running on all devices). All operations in the application will be logged in and controlled in terms of availability based on the rights of logged in user. It will be the basic tool for parking lot owners/city authorities to control the parking space.

IT cluster

Due to the dynamic development, Inteligentne Miasto Sp. z o. o. has established cooperation with the Cluster of IT Companies of Eastern Poland KlasterIT company.

KlasterIT brings together companies from the IT and telecommunications sector, which have their headquarters in the following voivodships: Subcarpathian, Świętokrzyskie, Lublin, Podlaskie, Warmian-Masurian.

Objectives and effects of the project:

The aim of this project is to increase the competitiveness and innovativeness of the economy of Lublin Voivodeship and Inteligentne Miasto Sp. z o.o. The assumption is to develop and implement on the market an innovative Urban Management System technology, i.e. innovative urban parking space management service.

Project implemented under Priority Axis 3 Competitiveness of Enterprises, Measure 3.7 Improvement of the competitiveness of SMEs – grant support of the Regional Operational Program of the Lublin Voivodeship for 2014-2020 co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
